Youth Action Diversity Trust

Engaging young people in positive activities

A Little Something About Us

Here at Youth Action Diversity Trust (or YADT as we are better known) we focus on encouraging youth and family engagement and participation in activities and learning across the Bexley Borough, whilst ensuring that everything we do is inclusive and a whole lot of fun! We love working with children, young people and adults and we pride ourselves in being creative and dynamic in all that we do. We hold the City and Guilds Gold Award for Assured Quality for our work. This puts us among the top Youth and Community Organisations in London, which we think is pretty special!  Here at YADT we have a clear objective to improve citizenship and to help children and young people to structure their life so that it is the best it can be. We also support adults to reduce isolation and to improve health and wellbeing. Some people have very challenging times in their life and we aim to play a small part in bringing structure and support to their world.

We could talk all day about the work we do across the whole of Bexley.

Rookie Rangers is for young children aged 3 to 5 years and is the newest addition to our repertoire and the activities we run seek to encourage learning and socialising through play. The playful sessions include an Interactive Story Time, Fun with Food, Playtime and Monkey Mayhem which uses soft play equipment and toys to encourage participation and enjoyment.

Play Rangers is for children aged 5 to 7 years includes a Kick About session for those that love football, Get Crafty which encourages creativity and a Run-Around session where they can play games and let off alot of steam! We also run a dedicated ADHD Social Club. Throughout the year there are also one off themes sessions such as Circus Skills, and Obstacle Courses. These are designed to be fully inclusive and encourage team work while allowing the young person to express themselves through varied creative outlets in a safe and friendly environment.

Our Youth Inclusion work for young people aged 8 to 16 years is continually evolving to suit the diverse needs of our young people and we currently run numerous exciting activities at the North Cray Neighbourhood Centre in Sidcup. These range from Sports, Drama, Football and a designated Girls Social Club! We run a dedicated ADHD Social CLub as well! We love what we do and are so lucky to play a part in encouraging growth and stability in the young people we meet.

We recognise the importance of improving a young person's opportunity to learn and develop important life skills whilst gaining accreditation for their efforts. Our popular accredited AQA Courses include Drama Performance, Mime and Improvisation, and Cooking on a Budget. We also run numerous workshops which look at some of the tougher issues our young people face including Anger Management, Confidence Building and many more.

We are proud to play a small part in the wonderful work that the Jack Petchey Foundation do for young people aged 11 to 25. They have helped us recognize the numerous achievements of our young people which over the past 5 years have included increased self confidence, a tremendous demonstration of team spirit and improved skills in Football, and Drama. Thank you Jack Petchey and we look forward to many more years working with you!

We are always more than happy to talk about the work we do, so if there is anything else you would

like to know and cannot find it on our website, please call our Head Office on 020 8308 3862.

Our Fabulous Centres

YADT proudly manage three Centres within the Bexley Borough. The North Cray Neighbourhood Centre is the home of our Headquarters and is the youngest, having been built in 2006. Parkside Community Centre in Barnehurst is cosy and self contained, while the Hurst Community Centre in Bexley is the striking Manor House which is over 200 years old! We ensure that the services delivered within each of the Centres meet the best possible standards and address the balance between children’s services, youth services and services for adults. It is important to us all that there is a diverse range of activities for the whole community to enjoy from Creative Writing at Hurst Community Centre to Yoga at North Cray. Please explore our website some more and see how you can get involved.

You are just a click away from finding out everything we get up to, including how to hire

our rooms and halls for meetings or special occasions and the numerous activities that are on offer at each Centre.
